The 56th governor of New York resigned after 11 years over sexual harassment claims made by 11 women of his office and security. Ex Governor Cuomo in a televised briefing made his resignation public on 10th August, 2021.
“New York Tough is New York Loving. I want to be helpful. I think given the circumstances the best I can do is step aside. I work for you and I do the right thing for you. It’s not about Me, It’s about We.” Said Andrew Cuomo making his resignation official.
Kathy Hochul will take over as the New Governor of New You. She is the litutent government in Andrew Cuomo’s administration. His registration will come effective in 14 days.
Ex Governor Cuomo said that the reports are biased and that he and his legal team are ready to fight the battle in court. He also said that “Twitter has become the public square for policy debate.”
Last week, on 3rd of August Letitia James, New York Attorney General, briefed the media that Andrew Cuomo has violated federal and state law. The Attorney General said “The investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of conduct by the Governor of the great state of New York and those who basically did not put in place any protocols or procedures to protect these young women.”
11 women have reported instances of sexual misconduct against New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. 9 of these women are current and former state employees. This includes Charlotte Bennett, a briefer and executive assistant, a paratrooper who was specifically assigned by Andrew Cuomo in his team.
Andrew Cuomo defended his position by saying – “The most serious allegations made against me don’t have factual basis. I hug and kiss men and women occasionally. I have done it all. I didn’t know there’s a line that has been drawn. I did not know that my sense of humour can be insensitive and off putting.”
Andrew Cuomo in his last brief as the Governor took a dig at Republican as well as Democrats politicians and said – “Obviously in a highly politicised matter like this there are alot of agenda involved. This situation by its current trajectory will generate months of political and legal controversy. That is how the political wind is blown. It will cost taxpayers millions of dollars.”
Beyond The Lines 
There had to be pretty damning evidence to force such a consummate politician to step down, as when Nixon was forced to resign. Good riddance. Hopefully, his lieutenant governor has more sense than he did about a lot of the issues facing the great state of NY. Perhaps a woman’s perspective (IF we are allowed to say that in these transgender days) will bring in some common sense.

The biggest issue is the pandemic and apart from that gun violence that needs to be tackled by an experienced and responsible politician.

Well, my friend, we may come down on opposite sides regarding gun violence in the US. Our constitution guarantees the right of the individual citizen to “bear arms.” The guiding principle was summed up by Thomas Jefferson: ““When the people fear the government there is tyranny. When the government fears the people there is liberty.”
The problem is not the guns but the deterioration of our society overall. I am saddened to see so much waste of life and hatred breeding in our communities. Please keep USA in your prayers as I do India.
