Herat, the third largest province in Afghanistan has fallen under Taliban on 12th August, 2021. Taliban has entered the governor’s compound and has released prisoners from an occupied prison.
Here is the list of provinces now under Taliban.

•ZARANJ Aug. 6 – Nimroz province in the south was the first provincial capital to fall to the insurgents since the war between Taliban and Afghan forces began in early May.
•SHEBERGHAN Aug. 7 – After heavy fighting Taliban declared control over government buildings, the entire northern province of Jawzjan and its capital Sheberghan. Afghan security forces say they are still fighting.
•SAR-E-PUL Aug. 8 – Sar-e-Pul was one of the three provinces to fall on the same day under the control of the Taliban.
•KUNDUZ Aug. 8 – Talibans gained control of one of the most populated, mineral-rich, cities of Afghanistan in the north. The city of KUNDUZ with a population of 270,000 people. In KUNDUZ also lies an army base and an airport.
•TALOQAN Aug. 8 – Also in the north, the capital of Takhar province, falls to the Taliban. Government officials are forced to flee and prisoners are freed.
AYBAK Aug. 9 – The capital of the northern province of Samangan is overrun by Taliban fighters.
PUL-E-KHUMRI Aug. 10 – According to residents, the capital of the central province of Baghlan falls to the Taliban.
FAIZABAD Aug. 11 – The capital of the northeastern province of Badakhshan is under Taliban control, a provincial council member says.
GHAZNI Aug. 12 – The capital is taken over by insurgents according to a senior security officer.
PROVINCIAL CAPITALS BEING CONTESTED AS OF AUG. 12:

•KANDAHAR – Capital of Kandahar province in the south.
•FARAH – Capital of the western province of Farah.
•LASHKAR GAH – Capital of Helmand in the south.
While the citizens of Afghanistan impatiently look forward to the meeting at Doha this week between the Taliban, Afghan government, regional and international envoys, the world remains divided over the role of Taliban in Afghanistan. The Afghan democracy is dying a strange death as 31st August nears, the day when all NATO and US troops are officially set to leave Afghanistan after 20 years.
My heart grieves for how our numbskull president is withdrawing our troops that have helped Afghanistan. If we had behaved this way towards Japan after WW2, they would probably be a province of communist China!
Plus I have dear friends in and around Kabul who are Hazara, a particular ethnic group targeted by the demons of the Taliban. Pray for Afghanistan! 🙏

That’s an interesting point that you have made… I don’t want to see the people suffer due to the turmoil.

THE AMERICAN GOVT. WHICH HAD SENT ITS TROOPS TO PROTECT AFGHANISTAN HAS FAILED IN ITS MISSION. WHAT THE EARLIER PRESIDENT DID, THE PRESENT PRESIDENT HAD UNDID THE SAME, THUS MAKING IT LIKE STEALING FROM PETERTO PAY TO PAUL. This way the Afgans are DOBI KA KUTHA NA GAR KHA. EITHER THEY COULD HAVE COPLETELY ERADICATED THE TALIBANS OR COULD HAVE JUST MINDED THEIR OWN BUSINESS.

What Americans had done ealier, is like adding a drum of water to the ocean. American soldiers have done half the job making AFGHANISTAN look life ‘DOBI KA KUTTA NA GHAR KA, NA GHAT KHA. (meaning neither, here, nor there) NOW TALIBANS WHO ARE A HEAD ACHE, ARE MASSSACRING THE POOR AFGHANS. WHAT WAS THE USE IN SENDING AMERICAN TROOPS TO AFGHANISTAN. IT IS JUST LIKE ROB PETER TO PAY PAUL.

in an ideal world the the Afghan Gov. can be strong enough to fend off any opposition such as the radicals. however i don’t think without support it is strong enough at the moment. It is terrible dilemma

That is the reason why most of the security personnel of the Afghan Army gave up fighting. They said “we won’t give up our life for a corrupt, kleptocratic regime”.
