Cyclone Tauktae made landfall in western India’s Gujarat coast on the Arabian Sea around 1:30 p.m. on 17th May. Termed as “extremely severe”, the cyclone made landfall with wind speeds of up to 160km/h (100mph).
As of 11 a.m. EDT May 17, ANI reported that Tauktae had killed six and injured nine in Kerala, Karnataka and Goa over the weekend. Tauktae debilitated after it made landfall on Monday but at least 12 people have already died in the storm.

More than 90 people are missing after a barge owned by India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), carrying personnel was deployed for offshore drilling. When the storm struck, the barge’s anchors gave way and it began drifting off the coast of India’s Mumbai city sank amid a severe cyclone.
The Indian navy said it had rescued 177 of the 270 people aboard and that efforts to find survivors were ongoing.

More than 250,000 people in low-lying areas were moved to shelters, sparking fears of possible new coronavirus clusters in coming weeks.
Tauktae is the strongest cyclone to strike the coast of Gujarat since 1998.
I hope everyone is safe at your end! It hit mumbai yesterday and I did record and blog too but seems it was stronger in Gujarat than in MH.

Oh! I’m sorry, I just read “between the line”. For the past few week I misread it as Anitamuggle instead of Aintamuggle!

I knew it will turn out to be dangerous when it passed near to Kerala, heavy rain and strong wind..
But Gujarat is literally suffering… I hope no more lives will be in danger.
